Tip for changing Last Row with Crop
Ever find on a quilt which you have cropped the top and/or bottom, that when you get to the last row the prompt to change the row size makes the row less than adding a full row and/or the gap is too big to stretch and would make the pattern look wonky? Well there is a way to get the last row to size exactly as you want it. Follow these steps:
1. When the second last row ends, clip the ends and press RUN to return to the start of the row (Zero) as normal
2. Press I to index and move to the start of the last row
3. Ignore the Last Row prompt – close it by selecting NO CHANGE then set Zero
4. Now make a note of the last row height displayed in the upper right corner
5. If you started each row from the Upper Left Corner: measure from the current needle position to the lowest point of the pattern in the last row (down the quilt) and note the measurement you want
6. If you start each row from the Start of Pattern (and it is not the same as the upper left corner): measure from the highest point of the pattern to the lowest point in the last row and note the measurement you want
7. Now switch to the Setup Page and increase the crop by 5%
8. Switch back to the Execute page
9. Notice that the Last Row height has increased by an amount
10. If the value is not what you want, go back to the Setup page and change the % up or down and then switch back to the Execute page to check the value again (All this time, the head should still be at Zero and not have moved)
11. When you have the measurement you want, simply sew the last row from where you are, at the revised crop height you have created. It will not affect anything else and should fill your gap precisely.
NOTE: Make sure that you do not change the side crop, as this will affect the pattern across the quilt!
Hope this helps you all
